I was going to try to wolf river this week for the first time. I will be visiting from out of town and would like some basic presentation info like if casting cranks or jigging plastics/minnow works best. Any info would be helpfull.

I'm not sure what has changed in the last two weeks, but last time I was up in Fremont, fishing was good. We fished on a sunny day, and had lots of fish jigging with minnows. Minnows worked better than plastics. Green was the best color. 1/8oz - 1/4oz depending on current. Fish seemed to be in the holes. A couple days later, it was cloudy and we had a difficult time catching fish vertical jigging. We started casting the shallows and started to pick up a few fish here and there. We just casted light jigs with minnows to the shallow banks and jigged them back. Most fish were right up in the shallow stuff. We mainly fished from Fremont to Red Banks. You may want to find out if they are biting by the Rat or the mouth as well. These are the other two areas I would check out as well. Good Luck!

Head farther north, New London or even farther up, there are quite a few fish up this way! Jig and minnow is a good bet right now, fish the slack water on the bends vertical jigging or find the wood and use a good snagless jig tipped with a BIG minnow and a #12 stinger hook on those bright sunny days for the light bitters!

Good Luck
