The Illinois Walleye Trail arrived in Ottawa, Illinois with a mix bag of tricks for the weather. Saturday the weather had turned to freezing rain creating about 1/2 inch of ice on roads. During the night time the weather had changed to all rain and by tournament time Sunday morning the temp had climb to 50 degrees melting everything. The fisherman and women found the water temps were in the low 40's with 11/2 foot of clarity. The winning technique was pulling floater's tipped with minnows on three ways against the current. Winning the tournament was Billy Walsh and Julia Kellogg from Ottawa with a 6 fish limit scaling 9.17 pounds earning them $950.00 Placing second was Brian Mazur and Mark Mazur from Wadsworth Illinois with 7.62 pounds earning $600.00 In 3rd place was Thom Majewski and Mark Actis Sr. from Spring Valley with 7.58 pounds cashing $450.00, They also received the $100.00 bonus certificate from Hennepin Marine as the first Lund Boat in the money. Big Fish Honors went to Rick Parrott of Sparland and Mike Tatera from St. Charles, Illinois with a 2.66 pound Sauger for $240.00.

This completes the first half of the Illinois Walleye Trail 2008 season. Our next tournament is scheduled for March 16, 2008 in Spring Valley Illinois. Complete results and information can be found at www.prairielandeyes.com or email [email protected]

We would like to thank our fine sponsors Hennepin Marine, Mercury Marine, Lund Boats and Cabelas.
