| What do you guys use to store your rods in the off season? Right now I just lean them up against whatever and call it good but I'd like something a little better for the rods. The storage racks in Cabelas and Bass Pro look nice but they don't look like their on large enough centers to support line counter reels. Looking to find something that can handle about 20 rod/reel combos, both spinning and baitcasting. Any ideas?

Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | I use Berkley's 3 - rod holders and have a series of them set-up on the ceiling in the garage. Probably looking at 50 rods all in and out of the way.
Nice thing in the fall season with cold weather, etc..... including freezing having the heated garage all is dryed and ready for the next day.

| I store my rods in the basement. I drive nails into he beams in the ceiling and then hang shower curtain rings from the nails. I then slide my rods into the shower curtain rings. It's cheap, quick and it gets the rods up out of the way. Obviously two or three rings per rod depending on lehgth. I'm not sure if shower curtain rings come in different sizes, but I did have two rods that the but was too thick to fit into the ring. Otherwise all my trolling, spinning and most of my baitcasters fit just fine. Let me know if you anymore questions. |

| Don't forget to back off the drag on your reels when storing them over winter. |

Location: Elgin, Illinois | I went the same way as Capt. Marty... but cheaper... I used 1X4 lumber and a hole saw... Set up 2 1/4" holes at 5 1/2" intervals along 10' boards that I then "hung" from the suspended ceiling grid for trolling rods. Same 10' board on 4 1/2" intervals for spinning and baitcasters... I used 10' pieces of conduit (less than $2 each for the other ends) I used the plant hanger "thingies" to attache the suspending wires for the baords and conduit, but you could just bend the wire over the ceiling grid or hang from hooks... I can access all my rods from the boat... it is very convenient. I have the trolling rods pointed to the rear and two rows of spinning and baitcasters to the front. For one row facing to the front I use the top of the board for the far front facing board instead of pipe... Whole setup for over 60 rods cost less than $20. |
