Out of the house this morning early and checking on "ice" conditions.
At 0' and daytime temps. staying at around 20' maybe today definitely getting some good ice forming.
Upper end of Bay of course seeing best conditions and counting at least 4 shanties out in the early morning sunrise.
Noticed a gentleman, snow-machine off 2nd. Reef straight out from Brock's Resort area. Also seeing shanties I believe off east shoreline south of Vagabond.
Now's the time to getting those ice rods, tip-ups and making sure auger blades, ice spuds are ready.
Get a check list started of all the things you'll think you'll need first trips out.
Of course always thinking about "safety" first!
Going to do some upper Bay walking to getting "first-hand" ice conditions myself later in the day.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Marty,
Thanks for unique ice report, that is pretty cool. Have a buddy that is my roommate here at college who's parents just moved up there and we've been trying to keep up with the ice conditions up there. Hoping to get up there once or twice over winter break perhaps. Thanks for the report. |
