| I heard from a friend in Vilas County, WI that the Lac Du Flambeau tribe is asking out of their agreement with the DNR that let's most lakes have a 3 walleye limit. They're asking to double their spring spearing which could reduce the limits on eighty some lakes up north. Does anyone have any more news on this. The Lac Du Flambeau website is down and their newspaper site is also down, I heard they're having some kind of financial crisis on the reservation. Any news would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Location: Elgin, Illinois | That plan will "destroy" the area as a recreational destination. Frankly, I gave up on the Minoqua area years ago after some very unpleasent experiences on the water, at the launch ramp and then at a few well known "local" restaurants/bars. Figured I could spend my $$$$ in a more pleasant atmosphere. But, lots of folks still go there. This is an unfortunate and bad turn of events. |

| That is not good news. The shops up there are disapearing left and right. If they are not gone they are up for sale because the owners are not making it the way it is. |

Location: Elgin, Illinois | The Minoqua Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that this is a "possibility". |

Location: Port Washington, wisconsin | I read somewhere that the tribe was looking to unload some property to hold them over until they're long term investments start returning for them. I could see that possibility. But to ask for more spearing quota, in my mind, won't pay the bills. In fact it may hurt them. They've got some issues to sort out. That is for sure. |
