I was looking at glyde rydes, smooth moves, and lake tamers. They are all about the same $90 tractor seat but priced upwards of $250 in these marine configurations. I came across Springfield's Mainstay Heavy Duty Comfort Pedestal, which is an air ride pedestal. Much less bulk, better looking and a lot cheaper than the tractor style suspension seats.
My question is do they actually work? Anybody out there using these?

I got the mainstay's from the factory on my new Ranger and yes they do work well. I had glyde rydes in my old boat, I like the mainstays better because they don't bounce, after a couple days of bouncing around in rough water on Erie my legs would hurt from the constant up and down of the seat. My legs don't hurt with the mainstays, if you hit a big wave they take the shock right out and compress down. I've yet to hurt the jews with these.

Smooth Moves are adjustable so you don't have to bounce. The most common mistake with them is to not tighten them enough. I never bottom out anymore and my neck and back appreciate my concern. I wish I had them in the late 80’s riding in 16 ft boats on Winnebago!
