Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | The bite continues to improve as the water warms. I caught fish for three days on cranks and spinners, with the lion's share of them on spinners. The usual places like University Bay, Suamico, near Long Tail and Little Tail held plenty of fish. I did notice a lack of bigger fish, with many in the 20-22" range. The fishery appears to be very healthy with this base of mid-sized fish. Good luck and let us know how you do if you go.

Member Posts: 3899 | Lots of fish to be caught on the Bay. Vincent's is holding lots of 20-24 inch fish. Fish em high! There's bigger fish on the west side, and they are quite shallow, too. Don't be afraid to stick your boat up in there. Was out Wedensday, and found some big girls. A couple long skinny fish, but they'll get the weight back soon. They are hungry!

Member Posts: 885 | Fished the lower bay today and put 40+ Walleyes in the boat. 5 fish over 27 inches. Fish were everywhere. 45 feet back no weights, 4-7 feet of water, 1.3-1.5 mph. Hammered Copper with Root beer & Gold beads. Chartreuse was very good also. I ran my new Triple Lindy Rig today in Chartreuse and it caught 50% of the fish... the different rotation of the body vs. the blade make the rig wobble and it was very effective today. My partner laughed when I took them out of the box and I swore him to secrecy.... We both got a pretty good laugh when the board went screaming back the first time we put it out and a 28 inch Walleye hit it hard. After the second fish hit, we knew we were on to something so we switched and ran 1/2 Triple Lindys in Chartreuse and 1/2 hammered copper. Hey purple skeeter: Thanks for all the great info on the bay! I always fish the Winnebago system and usually do pretty well there running cranks and harnesses. I guess in that regard I am really not a "rookie", but I have always wanted to learn to fish for walleyes on the bay. Is there a certain landing or place you could point out to try for a first timer and also what to run as far as baits for a first time?? I am not looking for any coordinates or secret spots, just a few landing places or general spots to give it a try. Thanks a bunch!!
