Location: Stevens Point, WI | Day 3 of the Berkley/Lowrance PWT dawned with not a cloud in the sky creating nervousness for some atop the leader board. The forecast today is sun, a chance for isolated showers, and a light breeze 5-15 mph out of the N-NW some pros felt that the weather could play a factor seeing they haven't had this calm of a day since they've been here.
Rookie leader Aaron Deal was unsure what the weather would do to his bite. He did say that he was going to try a few more natural looking color crankbaits due to the clear water and high skies. By days end yesterday, the trees had been pretty unforgiving for Deal and his tackle. Deal spent the last few hours of the day scrounging through his boat looking for any extra crankbaits that he might have stored.
Veteran pro Dave Anderson of Apple Valley, MN was optimistic about the weather. He felt the sun would only help but more importantly the wind would play a key factor in filling his livewell.
Lund/Mercury Pro Mark Martin also felt very optimistic about the small area he and fellow pro Mike Gofron found during practice. Saving this small area no larger than a 100 yards or so, he managed two overs in less than ten minutes yesterday, but said he was headed to the spot first thing this morning to give it everything he had.
Morning images and interviews are up.
