Saturday, May 31st. and a weekly LBN update,

Overviewing the past week and slowly receiving some warmer weather each day and allowing water temps. reaching above the mid-50's to a temp. today of close to 60' in some areas.
Warming water showing a better bite each day along with some much needed rains in the past days as well.

Wind conditions have been flip-flopping as well.

Best bites on Little Bay de Noc ranging from shallow water, newly weedy areas to depths to around 25 feet of water. Always look for the shorelines getting wind pushing into them as baitfish congregating there will contain Walleye.

Best bait/tackle choices and still seeing a slow approach using leadhead jigs, floater rigs set using slip-sinkers and crawler harness/bottom bouncer sets.
Bait being used and fish being taken using crawler pieces and whole crawlers, leeches and some minnows.
Particular today our catch of fish we used "only" leadhead jigs tipped with Berkley's "Gulp Alive" Emerald Shiner in the 3 inch length, slow bounced off the lake bottom and new weeds. Finding that the "live" crawlers were being picked off by the pesty fish.
Along with Walleyes taking several nice Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass.

Noticing anglers throughout the Bay in the past days primarily drifting, trolling and also anchor fishing!

Reports of still some nice Perch being taken in the narrows using slip-float rigs and Perch rigs being fished vertically while tipping with wigglers and small crawler pieces.

Big Bay de Noc reports coming in from fellow anglers doing OK in Ogantz Bay, Tylene's Bay off the Garden Sport Shop (906-644-2036 ask for Ranger Rick)
as well the Garden Bay.
Smallmouth Bass action continues to pick up there as well with best results using tubes, live crawlers and spinnerbaits.

Cedar/Ford River waters and hearing also of some catches of Walleye primarily using trolling techniques with crawler harness and crankbait combinations. Landings down there are good to go.

Looking like with the warming weather we can only expect better and better fishing each day going into June!
