Saturday morning, it was a little cold with light winds. The sun shined most of the day but it remained cool.
The Husband/Wife team of Ron Goldapske and Vickie Goldapske took first place with a four fish limit weighing 20.30# winning them $4,300. Second place went to the Father/Son team of Michael Gengalo Sr and Michael Gengalo Jr with four fish totaling 19.30# for $2,400. Third place went to the Father/Son team of Dan Sislo and Brian Sislo with four fish weighing 16.56# for $2,000. Fourth place went to the team of Greg Wierzba and Terry Kleiman with four fish totaling 13.26# for $1,500. Fifth place went to the team of Scott Jankowski and Richard Skow with two fish weighing 11.10# for $1,200. Scott and Richard also had the big fish of the tournament weighing 6.26# winning them two plaques donated by All Sport and Trophy and a Smooth Moves Seat Mount donated by Smooth Moves Seat Mounts. All remaining teams received a minimum of $325 for a total payout of over $19,000 plus merchandise.
Only three teams weighed limits of four fish. Total fish weighed was 31 fish for a total weight of 133.5#. It was a very tough bite. Many of the teams stated that the fish moved from where they were during pre-fishing. The problem was finding the fish on tournament day.
Saturday night the 2008 MWS Champions were recognized at the Championship banquet held at the VFW Hall in Menominee, MI. The 2008 Team of the year award went to Brendan Uitenbroek and Melaina Uitenbroek. They were also 2008 Sibling Team of the Year. The 2008 Parent/Child Team of the year award went to Jeff Hartmann and Richard Hartmann. The 2008 Husband/Wife Team of the year award went to Ron and Vickie Goldapske. All teams received a Championship plaque and a MWS jacket.
