Member Posts: 1314 Location: Menasha, WI | Went fishing this morning before I came to the office. Just got off the ice, it is a mess out there. If you have a small jon boat or a canoe you just may be able to use it today. Easily 3" of standing water across most of the lake and up to 6" of water in many spots. I went out from Payne's Point and after crossing the 2nd bridge I chickened out because the water is quite deep to the south of that heave -- went back across the bridge and set up closer to shore. Several other vehicles did the same thing after I had set up. The ice seems a bit thinner but I haven't actually put the tape measure to it. Nevertheless, there's still nearly 2 feet of ice -- as long as it cools off everything should be OK. If you have a shack out there I strongly recommend getting out there and blocking it up or pulling it off. Bite was decent very early -- before and at sunrise -- two 13" eyes and a few decent perch. Minnow heads on a glow forage minnow in 17' of water off the edge of a reef. I've had the best luck in the pre-dawn hours pretty consistently the last 2 weeks.

Member Posts: 514 Location: Darboy USA | Anyone going out there this week for fishing or spearing take caution. Some auger holes from Saturday are now 12"-14" in size and getting larger. The "toilet" affect is taking place and making the water swirl down into these holes making them larger. Wouldn't be surprised to see some 2' holes by tomorrow at this rate. Take caution with atvs and small children, could easily drop either one in. I am reluctant to head out, but must block up my shack so will be off the east shore tomorrow. Will update then.

Member Posts: 60 Location: Neenah, WI | Went out from Payne's Pt. from 2- 5pm . Ice is still in good shape, just take it easy by the landing. Many small ponds of water on top the ice 8"-10" deep. Fished the mud east of Steven's and caught a mixed bag of perch, small eyes, and WB. I'm glad I wore my hip boots:)

Member Posts: 60 Location: Neenah, WI | Any reports on conditions out of Payne's Pt. I'm thinking of going in the morning. I would like to know if the bridge to the south towards Merrit is in good condition. Thanks for any replies in short notice. I just got back, been out of town for the last ten days w/out internet. I got the itch to get on some hard water:)

Member Posts: 1314 Location: Menasha, WI | Jason, A little too late but I was out there this morning and things were in good shape. Both bridges open and the ice is still solid. I talked to Dale this morning and he said he'd psot here when they pull the bridges.
