Member Posts: 378 Location: Omro,Wi. | Finally at 3:00PM today the ice went past my house! Let the open water begin! Please as a reminder to all who have the open water fever as bad as I. There is still alot of debris and wood comming down the Fox River. Also water is VERY HIGH from all the melting so be carefull with the boat wakes, and respect the property owners by not washing there shoreline away. Omro should open tomorrow, but launches are still frozen in. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Near the locks is a good place for kids, you can bobber fish and catch some perch and crappie in slack current around the locks.

Member Posts: 378 Location: Omro,Wi. | The launch is open in Eureka, however the docks are still under water. Ok if you have boots or someone to back you in. Fish report is slow today and spotty from day to day. Lot's of current to deal with, and ice chunks

Member Posts: 378 Location: Omro,Wi. | A update on the Fox and the Eureka area.....Water is still high, should make for a good spawn again this year. I can see Eyes after dark with a light off my dock.(they won't bite though) Fishing at the dam has been great one day, and slow the next, weather changes so ofter in March. Put a nice system for catching them togeather. (Rich pay attention) I had problems with all the grass and leaves in the river getting on my bank poles and covering up or killing my minnows....so I switched to floating rapalas, worked OK but still lots of debris. Found a way to keep the bait up higher and still get bit. Try a "FLOATING" leech made by gulp on a 4 foot lead after the river rig swivel (use a BIG sinker) they are liking it. ![]()
