If you have never been to one of these tournaments...they provide a meal at the rules meeting along with door prizes. Please give Chris a call if you are thinking of showing up so they will have enough food.

The whole system is NO WAKE! I am planning on fishing..will just adjust my spots. If you still want to fish you need to call Chris tonite. He called me and said that he had a number of teams call and say they still wanted to fish. He is going to make his decision by noon tomorrow. He wants to get a feel for how many other teams still want to fish.

Talked to Chris...we're ON! He said the only way we cancel is if the FWA closes the Chain to all boat traffic. He also said he is adding an hour. Hope to see ya there...will be out tommorow practicing...

No Wake No Problem
Bill and Joe Babe Dominate on the Fox Chain 5-2-09

Four days prior to the first Full Throttle Walleye Series event on the Fox Chain in Antioch, Illinois, the Fox Waterway Agency placed the system under an emergency “No Wake” restriction until further notice. Recent heavy rains throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois have raised the water on the chain to extremely high levels. In an ironic twist of fate it was those same high water levels which, according to many anglers “had the chain on fire” for the tournament on Saturday, May2nd.
Using the high water to their advantage, Bill and Joe Babe anchored their boat adjacent to the Grass Lake Bridge, and the two slowly and methodically pitched jigs along the current line to catch an impressive limit of Chain eyes weighing 16.52 pounds. The two cited several keys to their success on Saturday. Although boat position on the spot was important, being able to get the spot they wanted was equally important. “The boat draw Friday night was significant for us, and with boat number one we figured we would have first choice of whatever spot we wanted. We decided the bridge was the place to be,” replied Bill. Two solid fish to start the morning confirmed their decision and, as Joe put it, “made the rest of the day much easier.” For their first place finish the two anglers from Silver Lake WI took home $1,280.00.

In second place were Ron Levin and Aaron Moore, of Beach Park and Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, who brought 12 pounds even to the scale. Their basket of four Walleyes included a healthy 7.27 pounder which won the “Big Eye Award” for the tournament.

Like team Babe, Levin and Moore also concentrated on current areas adjacent to a bridge, only their choice was the route 12 bridge in Fox Lake. Levin commented on stage that the big fish was caught on a leech. Total winning for the two anglers including second place and the “Big Eye” totaled $937.00 and currently hold first place in the IL season series standings.

In third were the Millers, Jim and Jim of Wonder Lake, Illinois who brought a five fish limit weighing 10.94 pounds to the scale. Miller, a savvy veteran of the Chain, commented that many of the fish that were on a shallow pattern earlier in the week had moved in the last couple of days.

In fourth place were Billy Adcock of Pell Lake, WI and Marc Dunn of Zion, Illinois with 10.92 pounds. The two anglers anchored their limit with a stout 6.28 pounder, and currently hold third place in the season standings for the Illinois Series.

Close behind in fifth were Fallow and Serginia both of Wonder Lake with 10.76 pounds. After Saturday’s event, the two moved into second place in the season point standings behind Levin & Moore.

Next stop for the Illinois Series is a combined event with the WI Series on Lake Winnebago on June 6th. The tournament will feature a new and exciting concept within the FTO tournament organization. Anglers have the potential to pay a double entry and compete in both the WI and Illinois Series events simultaneously. One tournament, two separate payouts and double potential winnings! Information regarding the combined event on June 6th will be posted on www.ftfishing.com. Teams interested in fishing are encouraged to contact Illinois Series Director Chris Jones at 920.427.7120 or send entry forms to 701 Manchester Road, Neenah, WI 54956. Due to the strong interest in this tournament from anglers in both Series, blast off numbers for the June event will be determined by order of paid entry.
