Member Posts: 1991 | 42 with a 115 I got that with my Mr Pike and aluminum prop, you are doing good with 18 Pro V and that engine, a SS might get you 2 mph approx, you will get a better controling boat with a SS prop. More bite and less blow out, maybe raise the engine a tad for bit more performance. 3 blade would be a good choice,

Member Posts: 87 Location: Neenah, WI | I agree with Moreyes, you'll get 2 - 3 mph more top end, along with much better improvement with an SS prop. What prop & pitch are you using now?

Member Posts: 238 | What gains do you experience going to a 4 blade prop? Im contemplating taking my Mr Pike 17 w/ 115 Yamaha 4 stk. and putting a 4 blade 18 pitch, instead of my 3 blade 19 ss. Any help?

Member Posts: 1991 | I tried a 4 blade on my Mr Pike, and other than better "grip" no difference, stick with 3 blade on that boat, speed was no better than the alum 19p. I think you need to be at or near max hp rating and a larger hp engine to really benifit from a 4 blade

Member Posts: 87 Location: Neenah, WI | A 4 blade will give you a better hole shot. You may or may not lose any top end MPH, but it will give you more bite. Most boat dealers will let you try out props before you buy them, a great way to determine which one works best for you.

Member Posts: 238 | An 18.5 or maybe 18 3 blade I think is what the Mr Pike really needs...My 13 1/4 X 19 is OK, but I think I could run one hole down with an 18 and keep the same speed I am getting now and I wouldnt have the rooster tail I have now...Yamaha 4stk are known to be quiet, and I have the loudest motor on the lake at WOT....
