Location: Rhinelander | It's hot out here, and isn't supposed to cool down for at least a couple days. Daytime highs are in the 90's, yet mornings are cool enough to require a sweatshirt. It was nice this morning; just warm enough to allow shorts, but we will pay for it at the virtual weigh in when temps are supposed to be near 100 degrees. Most of the Pros are traveling at least 45 to 60 miles, and there's talk a couple might be traveling even farther. The bite has been good, but word is the fish are definitely on the move. Most of the Pros in AIM interviews this morning talked about pulling cranks and rigging, in that order. The average 'good fish' seems to be about 21 inches, but there's been a couple big girls caught during prefish, including a rumored 11# fish that would tip the virtual scales quite a bit! The field left at 7:30, and will leave the water at 3:30 PM, traveling the 10 miles or so back to Akaska for the virtual weigh in which will begin at about 4:30 PM. Location: Rhinelander | Mark Brumbaugh caught a 28 inch walleye today as part of his seven fish CRR limit, enough to take a strong lead over second place Gary Parsons. The bite was tougher for many as quite a few Pros reported the fish they had going during the pre-fish period had absolutely disappeared. Todd Riley burned an extra gasoline cell in pursuit of his fish, and CRR'd enough to hold third. Marty Glorvigen is in fourth, and Tommy Kemos rounds out the Top Five. The winds are forecast to pick up tomorrow, and the heat is supposed to increase a couple degrees, with a possible thundershower added to the mix. Watch for coverage to begin tomorrow morning for AIM Akaska day two at about 8 AM Central. Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() | ||
