Member Posts: 23 Location: Devils Lake ND | Hi Folks! Stumbbled across this forum when looking at the Tuffy web site and the 2010 meeting was on there. I am getting ready to go into a bigger boat, maybe this year, but more than likely next year. I am considering a Tuffy very seriously. I currently am running a Ranger Reatta and by all means it has lived up to my expectations but I am taking my business to the next level, guiding, and need a bit more boat. I also fish quite a few tournaments (walleye) and it would be nice to upgrade. My main reason for leaning towards the Tuffy vs going back to Ranger is pure price. I can not afford to put an extra $60K against the business. I noticed in the article that they are discussing two new boats for this year. Is there any data released yet on these. My MAIN problem is I live in ND and there are no Tuffy dealers up here , never seen a Tuffy boat on Devils Lake, and I have never even been in a Tuffy. Hopefully, during the FLW tournament on Devils Lake the end of July someone will have one that I can get into for a little while. My only concern that I can see so far is storage; in your opinions, do you feel that there is adequate storage in the boat? Thanks for all of your inputs, it now looks like I got a few days of reading in front of me through this Tuffy thread!!! Eric

Member Posts: 3899 | Compromise between storage and room . I feel there is plenty of storage in my 1890. And the same for the 2060's that I have been in. DO I carry extra tackle bags? Yes, but that is mostly a function of setting up for trolling or riggin walleyes, or casting for muskies. I do bot, and I find it's easy to take a few bags in/out of the boat, swap rods in the locker, and go. Maybe do it all over again the next day, or the next weekend. What you cannot deny is the ample room in the boat. Especially the front deck for casting big muskie baits, and in the back when trolling for walleys or muskies. Because there is no side compartments in the back, I have more room to move, and am more stable. Also, my knees don't get bent the wrong way when I'm in the rough stuff. Not sure if Brett King is fishing any of the FLW events this year, but if he is at Devil's Lake, I'm sure you'd get a great demo.

Member Posts: 23 Location: Devils Lake ND | Thank-you for the input, I was debating between the 1890 and 2060 but honestly leaning towards the 2060 since I will be guiding in it, more room the better in my application. Match that w/ a Yamaha 250 4 stroke and a 9.9 kicker and I think I would be set for a few years. Anybody have any ballpark pricing out there for a 2060 w/ 250 Yamaha, 9.9 kicker all 4 strokes?

Member Posts: 1991 | There is a dealer in Dickenson ND, a fellow just ordered an 1890 from there. He might have something to show you. If you get down to Akaska during the AIM tournament I will have an 1890 and Brett will have a 2060 to kick the tires on.

Member Posts: 38 | Walynut, I just sold my 08 2060 to a gentlemen that did alot of research and measuring between a 2060 and a 620.In the end he agreed with me that there is definatly more room in the back of the Tuffy then the Ranger and they are going to add more to the back I believe.I have learned ways to get all I need into the boat as far as storage goes.I added a couple of custom shelves and some netiing here and there and can carry way more then I can use a=on any given day.It is a great rig for sure and you pay about 15k less on avereage then a Ranger.I won`t be at the FLW but will be at Akaska as Kirt stated.Look me up be glad to take you for a ride and drive

Member Posts: 650 | I would think from A guiding and tournament stand point, the extra room in the tuffy is a big plus. Price won't kill you either. In a past thread, A fellow tuffy dude told of ordering his tuffy with no seat bases so you can plan them out the way you like. Great idea... Tuffy trailers are real nice... Boat will come standard with stuff that is optional on many other boats... good luck!

Member Posts: 23 Location: Devils Lake ND | I had two more questions but for the life of me, I can only remember one right now. I noticed the batteries are in the floor for the trolling motor, is there room to run a 36 volt set up, basically is there room for three batteries in the floor or would I have to co-locate a third battery somewhere using up some of my storage space? When I remember the other question I will post. Thanks again for all your input folks!!!!!

Member Posts: 3899 | Plenty of room for 3 big batteries under the rod locker. Here's a pic of my 1890 battery storage. I put the charger in there, but that was because it's a two bank. If I had a 3-bank charger, it would have gone in the back by the starting battery. Attachments ---------------- 100_2398a.JPG (48KB - 151 downloads)

Member Posts: 23 Location: Devils Lake ND | Ahh yeah, Now I remember my other question, are the Tuffys set up from the factory to accept secondary set of controls (steering/throttle) for a kicker motor? I assume that they would be but just checking.

Member Posts: 23 Location: Devils Lake ND | Final two questions and I will stop bugging you guys; What is the difference between a 2060 DW Esox, 2060 DW Osprey and 2060 DS Osprey. Looking at the Tuffy website i'm not seeing it. Final question; give me a ball park guesstimant price I should be looking to pay for one with a 250 4 Stroke Yamaha and 9.9 remote Yamaha 4 stroke kicker. Once again guys THANK-YOU for your help!!!!!!!!!

DW = full walk-thru windshield DS = dual console the "Esox" trimline comes with the rear deck extension. the "Osprey" trimline does not come with the rear deck.

You will need to contact your local dealer for pricing. I don't think the guys here will publish pricing because some are more aligned with the factory then the dealers. They do answer the questions though!!

Member Posts: 3899 | If you mean the second or stacked throttle/gear shifter for a kicker with remote controls? Yes, they can be rigged this way. Steve had this set up a few years ago on his 1760, I think. But why would you want that. Get a tiller model kicker, a Trollmaster, and a removeable steering set up like the link below shows. Best of both worlds. http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=9... Should be at the top in the Tackle forum.
