Subject: Central Council of Carpenters Tournament Results 3/20/2010

The Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters conducted their annual Walleye/Sauger Tournament on the Illinois River Saturday March 20, 2010. The teams arrived with river conditions steadily improving with 6-8" of clarity. Pre-fishing went well with a lot of teams catching fish but they were to small to scale. Upon getting up Saturday morning the teams did fine, the water clarity did improve, and the river continued to fall slowly, but were faced with snow, sleet, and ice making fishing conditions miserable. That didn't stop the team of Bob Horvath from Moquena, IL from local 272 and Mike Thomas from Manhattan, IL local 434 catching a six fish limit weighing 13.81 Ibs. They also captured big fish honors with a 3.61 Ib Sauger. Bob and Mike found their fish downstream of Spring Valley then caught them polelining and handlining with floating Rapala's. Placing second from local 1889 was Steve Hunter and Don Johnson. They also had a six fish limit scaling 10.28 Ibs. Taking third place honors went to local 496 Leslie Kaufmann and Chuck Sapp with five fish scaling 9.94 Ibs.
