Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | We all know the problem, especially when using braided line. The line often slips through or pulls through one or both retainer clips on the In-Line boards when a fish is fighting or because of simple wear on the rubber pads. Many of us fix that problem by wrapping the line around one of the clips to keep it from slipping at all. This wrap-around fix works fine but can backfire with big or fiesty fish, when you get the board up out of the water and start fiddling around with trying to get the line wrap out of the clip. The picture below shows my remedy for this line slip problem.
Let out the desired amount of line you want out from the board to the lure. Loop tie a rubber band on the line at that point and bite one end off near the knot. Then put the back board clip on as close to the rubber band as you can. I gave it some room in the picture to show better my technique. This rubber band stops any line and the board from slipping down and reels easily through line guides on your rod and the line spoller on your reels. Also allows Tattle Flags to work freely and gives you a reliable return point to line length if one length gets hot.
