| On Sunday, July 18, 2010, 47 adults and 78 kids participated in the 4th annual Angler Young Angler Walleye Tournament. The tournament was originally scheduled on June 13, 2010 but was rescheduled due to river conditions. The teams found the river in ideal condition with 1 to 1 1/2 feet of water clarity. With the temperatures in the upper 90's for the week prior water temperature was in the 86 degree range. With all these variables the kids caught fish. The only problem was finding the legal 14" fish. The father and son team of Mike and Billy Hays from Dyer, Indiana, weighed in a limit of fish with 7.69 pounds. By placing first they won the boat, motor, and trailer package and a slot in the International AYA Championship Tournament held in Kenora, Ontario on August 14,2010, plus $500.00 for expenses. | As we have for the past four years, my son and I had a blast! The AYA is always one of our best "memory-makers," and this year was even more special because we won! Also a little bittersweet, because it's the last year that I can fish the AYA with my son, who is now 17. All of the folks at Hennepin Marine, Lund Boats, the Spring Valley Walleye Club, and especially Bob Kidd, are all to be congratulated for another job well done!
