| In cooperation with the Oconto Sportsmans Club and the Oconto Chamber of Commerce, the Sheboygan Walleye Club will hold their 5th annual Battle on the Bay team walleye tournament out of beautiful Oconto Breakwater Park on Sunday August 15th. The tournament payout based on 100 teams guarantees a $6,000 first place to the winner and a payout down to 10 places. The entry fee for this event is $250 per team. Early bird entries into this event that are postmarked July 26th or earlier will be entered into a raffle for a prize worth $250. Also included in this year's event are numerous prizes, a gun raffle, and a 100% big fish pool paying the top 3 big fish. SWC will be contributing $100 towards the big fish payout and the big fish pool is $20 per team. This tournament is based on a total weight of 3 or less walleyes, with a minimum size limit of 15 inches. Tournament registration will take place on Saturday August 14th between 4:30 and 6:00 pm. A mandatory rules meeting will follow at 6:30pm. The field will be divided into two flights with flight one fishing 7-3 and flight 2 fishing 7-3:30. WI fishing regulations apply and the boundaries are WI waters only. Past winners of this event include the teams of Pat Cavins/Carl Grunwald, two time winners Robert Blosser/Joe Okada, and defending champions Matthew/Gerald (Trap) Valleskey. 100% of the money earned from this event will be used for fish stocking in various WI waters, habitat improvement, fishery research, fishery biology assistance, and an education fund set up by the SWC. In addition to these great resources, the SWC helps support many other similar programs such as Walleyes for Tomorrow, Manitowoc Junior Bass Club, Francis Creek Sportsmans Club, GLSFC, and others with cash donations from the clubs earnings. All these programs gather great support from this activity!!! In addition to the tournament, the Oconto Sportsmans Club will be on hand to support and serve food and drink during the event.
