I was fishing the fox river in Illinois today for muskie when I came across a huge school of carp. Sure enough, right there swimming with the carp were several nice walleyes. I have no idea why they are hanging with the carp but one I saw was 28"+. I am thinking of going back tomorrow, what is the best way to catch these fish... The water is crystal clear and these is some current. I was thinking minnows?

Seen this before. The eyes are there picking up goodies that the carp are stirring up. Minnows would be my choice.

Fish 4musky, Its not so much that the walleye's are picking up goodies dropped by the carp rather its the same size fish hanging around each other no matter what species they are. its very common.

Personally, I would pull out the 9 wt. fly rod and a mayfly larvae and catch the carp!!! Why pass them up??

Things are good Steve. Ask TJ what I offered up for himself and you next fall. Think you might enjoy it.

This is exactly what's going on, see it on Green Bay alot. Even crazier is when there is a good hatch of flies.
