Location: Rhinelander | The weather was absolutely perfect this morning for the MWS launch as 102 boats took to the water under sunny skies, warming temps, and moderate winds. The general consensus is the shallow jig bite will be the first stop for many of the Teams, and after hitting the shallows and rocks with jigs, either a weedline bite or trolling cranks will round out the day. Salmo Cranks have been hot; Brian reported that during the MWS rules meeting last evening at The Reel Shot, the shelves were nearly cleared, and an order had to be fired out to replenish the store supply. It's going to be a perfect day to catch walleyes on 'Bago. Predictions are that it'll take about 13 to16 pounds to win, and near that to take home a check. The weigh in will begin at about 2:30 Central, and results should be posted immediately after the event. MWS Coverage is brought to you by the JJ Keller Fishing team, The Reel Shot, and Mercury Marine. WalleyeFIRST coverage is brought to you by Lund Boats. Location: Rhinelander | 1 Tim Theder Dave Theder 17.70 That's what the top of the MWS Series leaderboard looks like after 102 teams weighed in today. The winners were pitching cane, and expressed they 'took a chance the fish would be there, and it paid off". It took 8.78 to make the top 25, but two weights oer 17 pounds shattered the predictions 13# should be enough for a win. That weight netted third today. Bill Ball and Tom Hoinacki took second with a weight of 17.10. Travis Wagner and Bill Van Ornum took third with just over 13 pounds. Rick Henriksen and Tom Zollar took fourth with 11.24. Travis Trepanier and Shawn Wendt took fifth, Tom Kamp and Mike Kamp sixth, Larry Strelow and Matt Riemer seventh, The Reel Shot Team of Brian Keller and Larry Eaton eighth, ninth went to Ted Winkelman and Brad Markert, and the top ten was rounded out by Scott Rohloff and Michael Wright. Many of the teams wouldn't talk much about technique because two big weekends are approaching-- The Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament, and The Otter Street tournament.
