Member Posts: 17 Location: Duluth | I use live bait for much of my walleye fishing. However, I am going to spend a few days in the Quetico Provincial Park this summer and live bait is not allowed. I am going to try some Gulp Alive leeches and am looking for some feedback on using them with a Lindy Rig. Do you think the Gulp would be effective with a Lindy Rig, or should I use spinners with the Gulp instead? On a normal day in the lakes I fish when using real leeches I prefer a Lindy Rig over a spinner when I drift, but I have my doubts about the Gulp Alive on a Lindy Rig. Is Gulp Alive, alive enough for a Lindy Rig?

Member Posts: 139 | I've done very well with a Bottom bouncer and a hand tied spinner rig with the GULP! 5" Leech. I tie the spinner with a single 1/0 Aberdean hook. Don't see why this wouldn't work with a riggin' sinker drifting. Another option, would be a slip float and a small jig tipped with the faux Leech. Good fishing, C-man

Member Posts: 17 Location: Duluth | Thanks for the ideas guys. I had never heard of those slow death hooks before but those might work well for drifting in a canoe. I'm fairly set in my ways and a slip float with a little #8 hook and a big leech or night crawler put some nice walleyes in my net each summer but if I want to fish some of my favorite lakes in the Quetico again I need to learn some new ways.

I've done well with just a jighead and the gulp with a slow drift with it just touching the bottom. No jigging, just let the boat movement do it.

Member Posts: 67 | All great suggestions above! I've used the Gulp! Alive leeches with good success on both Lindy rigs and Spinners. I've also done extremely well with a Gulp! minnow on a Single hook Red Devil Spinner in Canada. Last but not least - Hooking a Gulp! Fry or a Power minnow onto the Slow death hook works extremely well! Take both Powerbait and Gulp! with you - sometimes the fish will prefer one over the other and there are some colors in PB that you can't get in Gulp! Best of luck! Tommy
