WalleyeFIRST talked with Jim this morning, and the team leading at the end of the weigh in yesterday was in one minute late. According to the Merc Nat rules, they were docked half their weight, dropping them to the middle of the field. The TFM leaderboard is correct.

There were 6 MPH winds out of the east forecast for today, but the field left in brisk North winds as another front moved through. The current weather forecast looks like this:

Cloudy early, becoming mostly sunny this afternoon. Areas of patchy fog. High 73F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Wind:NE at 7 mph.

There should be enough wind today to make most of the anglers happy without the damage the field encountered yesterday to kickers and trolling motors in the early rough seas.

The weigh in should begin about 1:30 or so, earlier than listed because of the 6 fish in the well, weigh 5 no culling rule. Watch for reports directly after, and follow the event on WalleyFIRST and the MWS leaderboard.

Walleye Weekend/Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament coverage brought to you by The Reel Shot/JJ Keller Fishing Team, Lund Boats, and Mercury Marine.

The bite was better today with far more teams coming to the stage with limits. Many of the teams said they switched from trolling to jigging to put fish in the boat, yet some went from jigging to trolling 4' to 10' to put five on the scales.
As usual, success on Winnebago had as much to do with finding fish willing to eat as anything, and the fish are widely scattered.

The average fish this weekend was about 16.5", and was, according to the DNR, more probably than not an immature female. The majority of the larger fish are still up above due to the late Spring, high water, and readily available food. Most reports from the north side of Winnebago were positive today, but overall, the fish were not too far from that 16.5 average.

Tim Euting and Cameron Lewis put two consistent days together weighing 23.98 pounds to take the win and the check for $13,000.00. Less than a pound behind was Joe Abendroth and Justin Kohn weighing 22.58. Third went to Kyle Harmsen and Joseph Durant, who put 21.48 pounds in the livewell. Fourth went to Gary Henschel and Wayne Hoelzel with 20.88, fifth to Day One leaders Bill Mongin and Chad Mongin, sixth to Michael Galligan and Stuart Wells, seventh to Jon Janiak and Brian Smit, eighth to Tom Hoinacki and Brian Ball, ninth to Hugh Mc Aloon and William McAloon, and the top ten was rounded out by Chad Bohn and Clarence Bohn. Fifth through tenth were separated by six tenths of a pound, indicating how consistent the fish sizes really were.

Complete results are at fishtfm.com here: http://www.fishtfm.com/tournaments/mercury-results.shtml

Many of the teams are fishing otter Street next week, so details were somewhat guarded, but the NW corner of Winnebago and shallow water seemed to be mentioned quite a bit.

Watch for images and video soon!

The final weigh slide show will be up in a few minutes. All who weighed a limit plus a few, and the entire awards ceremony are included.

1577 fish caught. Release rate was 84.97%. Best ever on Winnebago with this size of tournament.

Great coverage Steve! I wanted to wear a WalleyeFirst sweatshirt on day 2 as well but I only have one and wore it on Saturday. Sure would be nice to have two...:)
