Has anyone ever belonged to a club or organization that had no nominations for a specific officer? If so, what happens according to Robert's Rules?

If your organization does not have nominations for officers then by default the club is not ran by Robert's Rules of Order.

The club has nominations for officers. However, noone got nominated for a vacant position. See the dilemma?

If the club were to follow Robert’s Rules of Order by the letter the meeting/committee cannot conduct any business until the vacant chair is filled by the nomination process and a proper officer has been elected to fulfill the term. You can have the president appoint an interim to be seated until a proper nominated officer is elected…but if the open seat is the president then you are not allowed to do business until one is duly elected.

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Back in colonial time one person never ran or petitioned for a specific office. The towns voluntary groups who wished to serve would meet and submit both the names and the positions from that group that they thought each individual would best be sutied for. If that specific name and that position had more votes then the others he was appointed to that office. How sweet would that be in todays world. |
