Hello Everyone,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce my wife, Kim and myself, Adam Sandor as the new owners of the Illinois Walleye Trail. We are very excited to have this opportunity and look forward to continuing the tradition of the trail. The Illinois Walleye Trail has a longtime reputation of being a well run a very competitive circuit that is primarily based on the Illinois River.
Since the inception of the Illinois Walleye Trail, I have had the privilege to compete with my father and have made many friendships and memories along the way. My passion for the sport and tournament fishing has inspired me to take
on the the new challenge of operating these tournaments. I have also competed on the Masters Walleye Circuit for eighteen years and I feel that the knowledge gained from this experience will provide me with the tools necessary to offer the best tournament circuit possible.
We are also very pleased to announce the continued partnership of Hennepin Marine, Lund Boats and Mercury Marine. This partnership is very exciting for us look forward to representing them in the future!
For those who may be interested, we are going to kick off the new season with the 1st Annual Summer Shootout, this Saturuday July 16, at the Spring Valley Boat Club.
Take-off at 7:00 and weigh in at 3:00
Food and beverages will be provided after the weigh-in. Two person teams, however, a third is allowed under the age of 18.
For more info, please e-mail: [email protected] or call
(8155) 955-7503

Best Regards,

Adam and Kim Sandor

Thanks, Rich! I would love to make that happen, but I better get my feet wet on the waters I know best to see how well this goes. Who knows though it could happen in the future? Good to hear from you, I hope all is well with you and your family. By the way congrats on the new boat! It would look even better with a little Illinois River scum line down the side.

The Illinois is my home away from home. I have wanted to do an IWT event for a long time. I have a feeling next year will be the year.

I have no doubt you will do a fantastic job as a tournament director. Your experience and connections are a recipe for success!

On Saturday, July 16th, fifteen teams participated in the first annual Illinois Walleye Trail "Summer Shootout". With water temps in the mid 80s and air temps projected to be in the mid 90s, the anglers were faced with some tough conditions. However, ten teams brought a six fish limit to the scales consisting of mostly sauger, but nine walleyes were weighed for a total of 72 fish averaging 1.23lbs.

The winning tactic was, trolling lead core up and downstream by the team of, Jason Wrosch and Joe Quattrochi. Jason and Joe weighed a six fish limit for 10.17 lbs good for $1150, they also had the big fish of the tournament-a walleye which weighed 3.07 lbs and worth $150.

Max Actis and Mike Stuckert took second place with six fish weighing 8.70 lbs., Max and Mike pulled three-ways with live bait and floating Rapala's to secure second place and $645. They also took home a $100 gift certificate presented by Hennepin Marine for the highest finishing Lund boat.

Placing third was Randy Carroll and Scott Pugsley with six fish weighing 7.91 lbs., Randy and Scott also pulled lead core up and downstream earning them a check for $405.

Fourth place went to Ryan Vecchia and Gary Dominy, who weighed 6 fish for 7.52 lbs., Ryan and Gary also pulled three-ways with a live bait and stick bait combo to catch their fish which was good for $200.

5th place-Mike Doucette, Scott Doucette and Drake Doucette 6-7.06
6th place-John Smith, Dave Hall and Jacob Hall 6-6.95
7th place-Gary Merkel and Bruce Merkel 6-6.76
8th place-Pinky Sandor and Paul Durdan 6-6.15
9th place-Dave Puetz and Jason Thies 6-5.32
10th place-Bob Kidd and Mark Actis Sr, 6-5.12
11th place-Glen Daugherity and Kay Hohn 3-2.82
12th place-Bob Horvath and Jim Lukancic 2-1.94
13th place-Ryan Feldott, Brandon Samolitis and Danny Lipinski 1-0.79
14th place-John Mannerino and Tom Cooney 0
15th place-Tom Giachetto Sr. and Tom Giachetto Jr. 0

We would like to thank all of you who participated and those who showed up for the weigh-in and awards. We greatly appreciate your support and look forward to seeing and hearing from all of you in the future!

The 2011-12 season is fastly approaching and we are looking forward to bringing you the best circuit possible. As we prepare for the upcoming season we would love to hear your input on dates, locations, one day championship or two? Should we go to the Mississippi? If so, in the fall or the spring? Also we allowed one angler under the age of eighteen in the Summer Shootout, is this something you would like to see in all tournaments or just the non-points tournaments? Please feel free to share your thoughts, I would love to hear your input and concerns as I finalize the schedule and dates.

Mark your calendars for October, 2nd 2011, for the IllinoisWalleye Trail, "Fall Classic"-Presented by Hennepin Marine in Hennepin, Il..
Thanks, Adam and Kim Sandor

Nice job Adam. I see great things for the future with the IWT. Always fun to troll same line as the winner and watch him net fish all day.
