Spent the second day as a guest and introducing the new custom painted Bomber line at Franks Great Outdoors Spring show this afternoon and had a real good time. Talked to several of my own board members and some other fans of the board that drop in only occasionally. Talked to Bruce DeShano of Off-Shore planer board fame yesterday for almost an hour. Actually gave him one of my Walleye Bell and Fly rigs to try out. But today went by even faster with one person after the other either sharing or asking for info. One guy gave me 5 lures that according to a few others around at the time, said these things straight out catch walleyes like nothing else on the St.Claire River during the warmer months of June and July. And have been around for a very long time, but only recently have been brought back to life by a new owner. They come in 73 colors and are called Rabble Rousers. And I'm told have the same swimming action as a Flat Fish has. What I like best is they are Goby size, that may explain their St. Claire River popularity. At any rate, I see them with a small chunk of nightcrawler on the front hook and possibly on a 30 inch leader behind my Walleye Bells. That's 3 new things to try on the Bay this summer.

I know Franks is carrying some http://www.FranksGreatoutdoors.com Not sure about all 73 colors though. Nor do I see them in their store catalog, but they are brand new (again). I'd say if you picked the colors from the web site and called Franks, they'd ship them. Heres also the link to the Rabble Rousers web site to check out the available colors. http://www.popslures.com

Anyone know how deep they dive? How agressive of wobble do they have?

Here's a few tidbits of info about them taken from posts off my site or you can go to this link and read all the posts. http://www.saginawbay.com/appiesboard/viewtopic.php?t=7634&sid=deb0...

My first thoughts are to run some of these with lead core this spring in the river when the season re-opens. I kinda like the fact that they do not dive deep or have an aggressive diving bill. This allows the lure to fallow the core better on a shorter leader and you can simple lift the rod tip if the lure starts digging bottom when using lead core.

Lou.

You briefly mentioned that you've been using these behind Bottom Bouncers. I could see myself that the front bill design would not be enough to get these type lures diving that deep on their own. What leader lengths do you use behind the bouncers, what other weighting methods have you tried and just how far down can they dive on their own? I'd like to start out with an idea of their capabilities before my own experimentation begins. Hell, these might be the perfect Saginaw River (Goby Heaven) lure to use while using lead core.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think a couple of you guys asked about the prices for the Rousers. When you find them in the store(at Franks anyway) the RED Tags are being sold for $3.99 and the BLUE Tags (these have a Chrome base) are being sold for $4.99.

On the BB I use a leader anywhere from a 3 ft. to 25 ft. You have to remember us River Rats don't use no girlie net. When we get to the BB we just pull then in and flip then into the boat.
I'll run them with the BB on the ones closet to the boat. The outer boards will have 1/2 to 1 1/2 oz. inline weights on them 20 to 35 ft in front of the Bait.
They won't dive very deep just by them selfs. I'm talking 2 ft. maybe. I talked to Pops today and he is going to make some painted Goby, I think that would work nice about 2 ft behind the BB with that little mud kicked up..
The lead core idea sounds great also. I have some of the originals made way back when . I have good luck on black on the kicker which I run about 1 ft. off the bottom and 3 ft. back .
In the river I use a 1 1/4 lb. sinker trolling and 1 oz. whipping. I only fish the river at night maybe every 4- 5 years a hour or 2 daytime.
Every year there seams to be one plug that is hot all year (we all know how that goes). The one with the blood streak I showed you was the hot one last year.
Did you get a chance to try one in your pool?? I'm here everyday so any questions just ask.

Pops will custom paint some for you but you have to give him time. He works a full time job and them some. And runs a big trap line in the fall.

Folks, there is one small tidbit of info I failed to mention. The Rabble Rouser and the Sickle Stick from plastic pellets to the plastic bag we ship them in are ALL made right here in the USA. Plastic-Michigan, Injection Molding-Michigan, Assembled/Painted- Michigan. The hooks and hook hangers made in Minnesota & Wisconsin. Once the lures are molded they do not leave our hands again until the are shipped to the stores.

O.K.

I finally put a Rabble Rouser on yesterday and went out to my swimming pool that has finally thawed. They have what I'd say is a slight to medium wobble when pulled at slow to medium speeds. What really impressed me (because of the molded bill design) was they stayed stable and have a darn good wobble at what I'd call faster or "Burning Them" speeds. I thought anything with this type of small, pocket, diving/swimming designed lip, would spin out and around like crazy at faster speed. I was wrong, it's very stable.

These work really good on Smallmouth Bass. Also I've been Handlining with them for about 7 years, caught everything from perch to Musky with them.

You gave me a few when you came along to help me prefish the Detroit river event a Loooong time ago. I have 2 left, i really liked the Chartreuse/Yellow & Red, Rainbow Trout, also Perch.
These things smoke the Smallies on GreenBay & Door Cty.
They work great Handlining for Walleyes, it's a perfect lure to run on the bottom lead then run a stickbait above it. Two completely different actions & looks being offered.
