Location: Rhinelander | The morning temps were quite a bit cooler, but afternoon looks like what's been the norm the last couple weeks, with temps headed to the high 80 mark. Couple that with light winds, and it's going to be a cooker out there. Despite all the heat, the Pros felt the bite would hold from yesterday, even to the point where second place Gil Mollett and his team members (including 10th place Lynn Jurrens), are going directly back to the same fish and repeating exactly yesterday's program. Third Place Lund/Mercury Pro Marianne Huskey also said her fish should be where they were, it's a 'simple' matter of being on the right pod when they turn on. Trolling crawlers early and cranks later seems to be the pattern for the Pros WalleyeFIRST talked to this morning, with a couple 'twists' thrown in. James Keller of the JJ Keller/The Reel Shot fishing team said his team will be executing exactly as yesterday if the fish cooperate. Brian Keller had 26# plus by 10 AM yesterday, and John Schneider holds down seventh going out this morning. The weigh in ran three hours yesterday, so expect updates to begin about 6:30 tonight. Watch the live feed at the FLW National Guard Walleye Tour web page, it's a quality webcast and easy to watch. Member Posts: 125 | I am surprised with the hot temps out there the WI DNR did not step in and mandate a lower weigh limit. Like 3 fish weigh per day. They "suggested" lower weigh limits last year to a few tourneis in the mid summer out there.

Member Posts: 1656 | Fin, the 5 fish 6 in the box rule I believe is a new statewide law for the hotter summer months. I forget the exact details. But it will make summer tournaments more interesting. Edited by Jayman 7/22/2011 4:15 PM

| Yes that is true. I just figured the DNR would ask them to only bring 2 or 3 to the scales. I believe the local biologist reserves that rite to make the change. Just an observation. | |||

Location: Rhinelander | Stephen Paulsen took the lead with 32-5 today added to his 27# plus yesterday to hold the lead by more than a pound over Ryin Jirik. Danny Plautz is in third with 55-01. The bite died in some areas today, but the leaders are not in a community spot, and said they hadn't seen another boat in two days. Danny Plautz and Ryan Jirik moved up the leaderboard by bringing nearly identical weights to the scales two days in a row, proving consistency and a good bag is key to a top 5, and with only 10 boats on the water tomorrow morning, the traffic will be down considerably, especially early in the day. It's supposed to cool down a bit Saturday with a chance of a thundershower in the area. John Campbell is in fourth with 51-15, Rob Nickels is in fifth an ounce back, and the rest of the top ten from the FLW Leaderboard looks like this: 6 TOM KEENAN 7 PAUL MELEEN 8 NICK SCHERTZ 9 MARK COURTS 10 DAVID ANDERSEN FLW Leaderboard: http://www.flwoutdoors.com/walleyefishing/walleyetour/tournament/20... There are enough big fish coming to the scales that anyone in the top ten can move up and even win if the top anglers struggle or the key fish bite in the right order. It's probable one of the top 5 will take the win for over $60,000.00, but it's possibly anyone's game. The Top ten leave tomorrow at 7 AM, and the weigh in will begin at 5 PM sharp. Watch for interviews with the Top ten and images from the morning ceremonies by 8 AM, in time for your morning coffee. Tune in to the FLW Live webcast to watch the excitement, and look for updates on WalleyeFIRST directly after a Champ is crowned. Big thanks goes to Lund Boats, Mercury Outboards, the JJ Keller/The Reel Shot Fishing Team, and Lowrance Electronics for allowing OutdoorsFIRST to bring multiple events from fresh and salt water to fans of competitive angling.
