Location: Rhinelander | The Cabelas NTC/MWC out of Escanaba Michigan will pit some of the top walleye anglers in the country, from 33 states, against each other in one of the largest walleye events of 2011. The bite has been decidedly tough for many on the Bays over the last few days according to the interviews WalleyeFIRST recorded this evening at the NTC/MWC Rules Meeting. None the less, predictions are it will take about 60 to 65 pounds to win. There's no slot at this event, so the teams may weigh in their top five fish. Some teams report that there are some big fish being caught, but that the pods are small and the field large. The weather looks great for tomorrow morning: Weather Underground--Friday Very warm. Mostly sunny. Highs 83 to 88. Light winds becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. The light wind is an issue; most teams report it takes wind to really get the bite going because the water is so clear. The first teams will hit the wtaer tomorrow for check in at 5:30 AM Eastern, and take off at 7 AM. Check in is at 4 PM, and the weigh in will be held at the Escanaba Fair Grounds directly after. Many thanks to the MWC for welcoming WalleyeFIRST during the proceedings as part of the media group covering the event. Location: Rhinelander | The weather this morning is exactly as forecast, and the report from the Teams this morning mixed. Some, as usual, are on the fish, and others are struggling. The launch this morning went very smoothly considering the number of boats; using three launch sites helped. Everyone met at the Escanaba River mouth to take off for the day. The weigh in will begin at about 4 PM Eastern, so depending on how fast the weigh in goes, look for action from the Day One stage this early evening between 6 and 7 PM Central. Member Posts: 49 | It's a cull tournament but the wind will be less than perfect. There will be a couple of teams that will put back to back weights together. 73.46lbs. for the win. | ||
