I was wondering if anyone has tried the new St Croix Premier Trolling Glass Rods Yet? I have never handled them and am looking to get one but they only come in 8' Telescoping and have never owned a telescoping rod before so am a little nervous. The rod would be used for linecounter reels and used on alot of differnt presentations.

I have six of them. They are a bit pricey but wonderful rods. The six I have are my main trolling rods and have seen considerable use on Lake Erie and elsewhere. Moderate action... you can long line out the back of the boat without using a planer if you wish but handle planers quite well.

If you look at this picture you'll see my grandson reeling in a walleye and the rod is one of my Premier Glass Trolling rods.

I just noticed the question. I think they collapse down to 6' 5" but I'll take a measurement and then put a follow up post.

I was thinking 6.5 feet and typed 6' 5". It reduces down to 6' 6" or 6.5 feet. I measured it.

I'd suggest a trolling rod in the $40-60 range. Mostly, your not going to need superior sensativity of a croix while trolling, expecially if your using boards. I'd save my money and buy 3-4 for the price of 1. Just my opinion. Cabelas and Diawa have some nice models for good price, and pretty good quality.
