Member Posts: 53 | I would stick with the kicker and definitely get the engine mount fixed! They are the best for pulling spinners. Good luck.

Point the Maxxum straight, trim your big motor all the way down and use it as a rudder. I used to troll that way all the time after I removed my kicker on my old boat. It works great.

There is a device made locally and carried at the reel shot for trolling with your cable controled bow mount. Kind of a tensioner clamp that works great sells for about 20 bucks I think. He did a video on it this summer also. Give Troy a call he should be able to hook you up! Tyee

thanks for the ideas guys, got word today that I need a whole EM which is around $450 without controls, might just scrap it and invest in a terrova, not sure yet,

Member Posts: 2300 Location: Berlin | I would take the Maxxum and the EM over a Terrova and day. If my boat came with a Terrova it would be laying on the bottom of the lake. They are getting close to getting right but still a couple years away from getting it perfect. Still great for a lot of things the way they are but not for the way we fish. To each their own.

People don't like the foot pedal but if you get used to the controls at the base of the pedal there is no need to have your foot on the pedal. I would never go back to a maxxum.

When you state, "The way we fish" are you referring to the dark side of bass for you? hahahahaahaha I will trade all that other junk for a terrove with i-Pilot and be very happy. Cable drives, phooeey!!

Member Posts: 2300 Location: Berlin | I am on the dark side and...LOVING IT! We fish similar to bass guys and there is a reason none (ok almost none) of them are using a Terrova. There are some times I would like to have one but for the most part I will stick to cables.

New User Posts: 3 | There is more than one way to perform what grouse is asking. A bowmount unit with autopilot would be the best. I do believe grouse ask his question regarding crawler harness. You do not need the benefit of cable driven for this however in strong current cable driven is huge plus. I use bowmount/autopilot wich gives you plenty of speed in normal non windy days. During rough condtions i also use my kicker and bow mount combination. the kicker is your main power thrust and bowmount with auto pilot gives you excellent direction control. These 2 are also excellent in river trolling up river in strong current. With maxxum i dont believe there is autopilot so steering is alittle more awarness than compared to autopilot But it will work just fine. Hope this helps Edited by GUNMETALFLAKE 9/9/2011 4:40 PM
