Day two at the 2011 FLW Walleye Tour Championship began under clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Stabilizing conditions will dominate the remainder of the event, but wind will become a factor. This will help many anglers, but will also slow the walleye migration, which might cramp a few anglers into a few concentrated spots.

"I am on good fish," says National Guard touring pro, Bill Shimota. "The unfortunate thing is there are a lot of guys fishing the same area as I am, so we are sharing a good bite. We took a lot of fish out of there yesterday so I expect the amount of quality fish to decrease, but the ones I need will still be there. Its a matter of getting the right bites early in the day. I spent part of yesterday looking for new spots."

The water quality is improving as the river levels are falling, but this tremendous fishery matched with the fall bite is allowing the anglers to tie up with many fish per day. With droves of fish moving in hourly, each spot replenishes itself on a regular basis, but to stay in the hunt for the Top 20 cut off, these guys are having to stick to their guns and not keep anything under 19-22 inches. Its a touch call in a no-cull tournament, but it will take another 25-27 pound bag today to stay in the chase for 1st.

"I can be a matter of just getting one or two really good bites," says The Next Bite TV Host, Keith Kavajecz. "I am on a great pattern and I will be looking to box a similar weight today. I know I can do it, it will come down to the fish cooperating, which I am confident they will."

The weigh-ins will be held at 5 PM in downtown Bismarck at the Bismarck Civic Center. Stay Tuned for more updates this evening.

Day Two ended with a few surprises, one of which was the lack of quality. Or maybe that is not a surprise under the constantly changing water conditions. OutdoorsFIRST did not get a photo of the scene, but there was a large group of boats fishing the same piece of hot structure, and they were all clumped together close enough to walk boat to boat. It was an incredible sight, but they were there for a reason.

"The bite is drying up," says Day 2 Leader and Navionics Pro, Tommy Skarlis. "Yesterday we had a hard time keeping the white bass off the line, but today even they weren't there in such numbers. The spot is hot, but I think its worth a short stop tomorrow, but after that I will be off to find another hot bite."

The field was cut down to the top 20 anglers this evening and tomorrow looks to be very similar conditions. This is good for some and bad for others. Due to the stable conditions, its a safe bet that the community spots won't replenish and reload with fish and the anglers will be back to prefishing mode. Unless of course, they already had a Plan B set up.

Tomorrow's take off is scheduled for 8 AM and weigh-in at 5 PM same place. As you will notice, it is stacked with some very big names in the walleye business!

Day Three Top 20 with Two-Day Total
1st Tommy Skarlis with 40-14
