By making guys fish all three events, it stops guys from cherry picking events hoping they will make the Classic. They require you to fish all three events even if you win one, that way turnout within each of the Open Divisions stays strong. Once a guy wins an event and has a Classic berth, why fish another one that's 100's miles away and may not have ever been on that water before? It only makes sense, if your fishing for the Classic berth, you fish them all, just like the Elite Series or FLW Tour. Edited by TJ DeVoe 9/21/2011 2:30 PM

Member Posts: 2300 Location: Berlin | You don't think it has anything to do with the controversy surrounding him? FLW/PAA banned him for a year, BASS did not look so good with the slap on the wrist so this was their way of calming the storm in the bass world, JMHO.

You don't give up a Classic berth and a shot at $500K for just any reason unless it's something significant. Every Elite Series angler I know that fishes the Opens have one goal in mind, win an event to make the Classic. Now granted, some of the Elite Series anglers fish an Open or two on waters they like or prefer, hence the cherry picking statement.

![]() Member Posts: 650 | From what I read, he had a 12 month suspension, which is a forced sit. No choice. This was a hot topic here in NY with the event at Oneida. my bass club, Salt city bassmasters had about 15 people working at it, plus another bunch actually fishing in it. Comments from the co angler can be found with a search. lot of opinions on this. Mine: I'm a big fan of walleye tourneys and the coverage here at walleye first, I think the pro am shared weight format used is perfect. would like to see it carried over... I've never been a big fan of B.A.S.S. but sometimes it's the only show in town. TJ, we had alot of big names at Oneida, week after the FLW event, on the way home, lottsa bass. double dippin' weeks I guess. Now if we could just get some Walleye events here in NY...
