Had business to do with the Michigan DNR concerning a pond dig, and needed to visit my swamp 40 to take some measurements and such. While having lunch at Butch and Sue's in Cedar River, met up with the winner of the MWC LBDN Tournament - Lloyd Polfus.
He is a friendly person, very approachable, 'cept when you ask about where he caught those fish!
However, he did have an interesting story to tell. His scheduled partner for the event canceled with less than a week to go. So he offered the spot to his friend from Illinois - Gary Zalewski.
Lloyd said that Gary normaly didn't have weekends off, but this time he did and agreed to fill the seat. Feeling he knew the area well enough, Lloyd wasn't bothered by Gary not being able to pre-fish.
Now, can you imagine being this lucky flatlander? Coming up on Friday night, fishing for 2 days, and then hauling that huge $9500 check home? Good God Lloyd, what a marvelous friend you are!!!
Otherwise, took a few pictures of Ralph's new hunting shack (my dream cabin). Notice where I placed that sheet of particle board over the spot for the sliding window. What is left open is such a perfect place to rest his rifle!
And less than 50 yards from the cabin is the OutHouse. And Ralph, should you use it, keep the door open and your rifle close, as the deer have free use of it too!
