Member Posts: 1195 Location: Orland Park, IL | Yep, there is a jig bite in the spring going on. Not sure about now. Hay bay has a great jig bite for the opener. No issue going across the border (i am nexus and passport). Enhanced shouldnt be an issue. Actually a piece of cake to get across. Never had a problem. There are a ton of eater (less than 5lbs) fish in the spring and early summer by the weedlines near the concrete plant, hay bay, etc. Try one of those lipless cranks and burn it through the weeds. Mark, You suck! I"m so envious I want to cry! I can only imagine how much fun that is pulling in that class of fish without thinking who the heck is watching. I"d be burning my vacation if I was you. Congrats, have fun and thanks for the pics! PS, No ice here on the Bay but storm coming in tomorrow w/ snow. Dave

![]() Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | I trolled the Saginaw Bay Yesterday for 3 1/2 hours as well Mark. I cannot believe trolling the Bay on January 11th. I decided to fish deep yesterday versus the shallow PIKE spot. Some buds of mine got a few dandys 3 days before. So I made 2 mistakes yesterday. One I should have stayed shallow and two I should have brought along at least one jigging rod, jigs and some Gulp minnows. I came back into the river at dark and planed to do some night casting near some lighted areas that have produced in the past. The fish were there in spades, but near the bottom. We tried trolling with deep diving cranks, but I know because of experience they don't turn on till they come up after the baitfish near the lights. But it got cold, started to snow and I could not wait them out, dammit. Didn't catch one fish. ![]() Edited by walleye express 1/12/2012 3:34 PM Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
