Took two clients this morning who never caught a walleye in their lives. One guy from Grand Rapids and his father-in-law from Atlanta Georgia. Thought about jigging the river first, as my Girl friend Mary and I caught 6 decent walleyes the night before. And the fishing the river idea was reinforced after finding the Bay choked with dislodged weeds from the last 2 days of heavy NW/NE winds. So the first thing we tried was jigging KnuckleBalls and Gulp. But as you know you either get the basics of virtical jigging or you don't. These newbies could not get the hang of it and after 8 lost KnuckleBalls and Gulp Minnows in as many minutes of fishing I decided to change techniques for profit sake. So I broke out the 3 Lead Core rods and some of my ancient 1/4 ounce Hot-N-Tots I brought along and started the walleye pump & bump seminar. I had these guys pumping walleyes in 10 minutes. We caught 18 walleyes and kept 12 keepers by 12:00. Add 2 sheep, one white bass and a pike. All very close to where the last AIM tournwey was won on the Saginaw River.
