Out heartfelt best wishes go out to Ron and his family. No other Pro angler out there pilots a boat, truck, or crop duster with any more gruffly offered grace.

Get well, Ron!

A real shocker. My thoughts and prayers are with Ron and his family. He always treated me well and with respect when I tried fishing along side him. And he taught me a few things by observing and listening.

It took a lot guts for a guy that had to ask "what's a Lindy Rig", to go head to head with a seasoned group of walleye anglers, like Ron did in 1990 at Rainy Lake. And what a credit to that guy, going from THAT level of general walleye knowledge to the KING of the walleye tourney world.

I, for one, am betting the same guy with those guts, will beat this foe as well!!

Grab that tiller handle, Ron, and "crank" 'er up!! As usual, we are all behind you.....

prayers on the way from wisconsin always looked over the leaderborard and followed this great fisherman. i will never forget the immage on stage in Maddison of Ron running out of hands with a big check , a big trop;hy and his family in his arms at the same time. oh ya.. and that twinkle and a tear in his eye, what a great moment in time.

You know Steve, You are right and there is a lesson learned from Ron. This is for all the new guys in the tournament world.

At the start of the PWT full season in 1990 there was a few hot shots that took everyones money. Guys like Fellegy and the like. There were 2 guys who never cashed a check, but were there at every one of the events. Seelhoff and Gofron. I bet that everyone knows there names.

They persistantly plied the waters and have become known as 2 of the best pros on the market. Ron is just like coke, only he taught the world how to contour troll. There is alot more to the game that Ron taught us than just fishing. Thanks Ron, and may there always be calm steady winds in your future.

Back in the early Ron Seelhoff days, Ron's sole focus was on catching more and bigger fish. He was anything but ready to do public speaking/appearaces. But after winning a couple high-profile events, he was getting called to do just that. One day, he finally said yes to one of the offers by a big walleye club in Casper Wyoming. Then called me. He said, "I'm in trouble. I scheduled a seminar and have no idea how or if I can do it. Get out here and you do the talking." LOL I wasn't surprised and said I'll be there. And yes...I did the talking while he stood next to me on the stage.

Of course, since those early Seelhoff days, he held his own on any stage. But now years later, without him asking, I have to speak for Ron again. And proud to do so....

Ron Seelhoff was a driving force behind the growth of the walleye related crankbait industry the past 20 plus years. Ron's early days success with cranks, almost exclusively him in the early days, made the likes of Normark, Storm Lures, Smithwick and many more companies lots of $$. Would Berkley have come out with Flicker Shads if Ron hadn't been a part of the walleye world early on? No doubt....Ron drove the boat that led their way!!

I challenge the walleye angling related crankbait companies to rally behind Ron and make a long cast toward paying for Ron's treatments.

I challenge the likes of In-Fishermen, old and new staff, old and new owners, to rally behind Ron, long after he played a major role in growing the coverage on both TV and the magazine side of things. He was there for you when you needed him.....

Crank'er up everyone!!! If every walleye tournament angler, old and young, club event level to AIM/FLW level sent $$ equivalant to one crankbait cost, it would surely help Ron big-time.

Thanks.....
