Subject: Lowrance sonar trouble shoot

I have a 334c. here is the issue, The screen won't scroll always. I have 2 transducers. One is an ice transducer the other is a boat transducer. It seems that when it does not work, the transducers are not clicking. Some times when I take the ice transducer out of one ice hole and into the nest it won't work for maybe a minute. The boat transducer seems to not like to work over weed beds. Could it be
2 bad transducers or a bad unit. Any insight?

The first thing I would do is a reset, put everything back to factory defaults. Then try it.

Check Lowrances website to see if there are any software upgrades available.

Do you have access to a similar unit that you could try the transducers on?

I would say bad transducers... I always turn off sonar when not in the water. just habit. I go by the thought that thing has just so many clicks in it, why waste it... also the battery. Ice fishing different though.
I've had similar problems on TM sonars, a transducer replacement does the trick most times. sonar just send the signal regardless of whether in the water or not... yeah, I'm gonna go with the deal you got some old transducers. Check ebay for deals.

say, did you call lowrance? I find that since navico bought them that you get through almost immediatly and there service people speak clearly and effectively.

Ya, I have talked to support. The gentleman told me this was operating normal.
I know better. I am not trying to get them to pay for anything, or to blame them.
I am trying to resolve, without blindly swapping out parts. I guess my only option is
to buy a transducer and hope. My intent was to make an educated decision first.
Thaks guys.

Its really hard to troubleshoot over the internet, especially electronics. Can you borrow a friends graph to test your components.

You know what, now that I am thinking about it. That unit did have processor problems. It was slow and over built. What it sounds like is it is locking up. The guy at navico might be right.

Also have a 334c and have had many problems. It will only remember about 10 WPTs before reassigning back to 001, the gps loses my position often, and the sonar looses bottom a lot and flashes 3 ft for prolonged periods. Last trip out last fall it flashed 3 ft ALL DAY!!!!! I tied soft reset and hard resets and nothing helps. Was on hold with Lowrance customer service for just under one hour, and after very short conversation( I admit I was less than friendly) he hung up on me!!!! Not trying to bash Lowrance ....but really??????
