| Just thought i wwould report that the fish are moving in now 3 of us caught 3 limits of 15 to 17 and released 5 over 18 lpersonal thing not to keep fish over 18 used jig and minnow 8 came infront of Chico's the rest down at the mouth a stingr was a must for us just want to get peoples blood flowing lol

| What a gorgeous day on the river. It got up to 78 today and was nice fishing shirtless and soaking up some warm sun. I got a 17 inch 1 1/2 lb milker today jigging on the sandbar near Stevensville. This year has got to be one of the earliest ice out dates ever. If this warm weather continues, the walleye run will be early this year. |

Walleye
We've been capturing and tagging walleyes full tilt the last three days as the 2012 spring run is definitely approaching its peak for spawning activity. Today we captured, tagged and released over 2200 walleye in the Shiocton and New London areas. Although a majority of the females we captured today up and down the river system were not quite running eggs yet, they were very close to being ripe and ready to lay their eggs. We saw a lot of spawning activity taking place in the woods today adjacent to the spawning marshes and river. The nice relatively high flows we are experiencing are providing excellent spawning conditions throughout most of the wooded areas adjacent to the river and the traditional spawning areas from New London upstream to Lemann - thousands and thousands of acres of walleye spawning habitat working quite well at the moment. Hopefully we can get some rain in the next week to help maintain good flow and water level conditions for egg incubation and hatching. The warmer water should provide for a very rapid incubation period and early hatching this spring. We expect to be able to tag walleye for a few more days before the majority of spawning is done and the fish start to move back downstream. Our telemetry work has shown that females typically move back downstream to the lakes faster than the males when they are done spawning; with the males providing most of the lingering good fishing in the river after all of spawning is completed. We expect the good post-spawn fishing in the river to begin ramping up by the end of this week.

Location: Menasha, WI | Fished Stephensville on Monday. Only 1 fish, a 17" milker. The few we chatted with that did catch fish had caught spawned out females. Water temp was 54.
Fished Fremont today. We got 4 total, 2 males and 2 firm females. We fished a few different areas but all the fish we got were caught drifting between the bridges early in the morning. The wind picked up throughout the day and became unbearable after noon. Water temp was 58-59 degrees.

We fished Fremont to Gills last weekend.
Did pretty well, although everyone around us seemed to land larger fish. Or so my wife said. Next time she says that, she's getting wet ! LOL

Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | A couple of us fished the New London area this afternoon. Five eyes. One was a female still full of eggs. We also caught three huge white bass. The bite was slow but it was nice to finally get out on the water. |

| congrats bd we were out Monday and only caught 1 eye and one little perch down by Fremont that was for 6 hrs went all the way up to Gills and all the way past Chico's just shows fish are still up |

Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | I didn't get out since Monday due to appointments etc. but my fishing partner reported catching three eyes in the New London area on Wednesday afternoon (two milkers and one female that was spawned out). He also caught three large white bass and a small sturgeon. |

Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | Froze by butt off Monday in the cold wind. My partner got one keeper. The bite has been very slow since. Only a couple of white bass. The river is really dropping fast. With the high temps this weekend we might be seeing the last gasp for the New London area this year. |
