Subject: ranger boat

Was curious if anyone had any input about the ranger hulls. Looking at purchasing be a 04 to 08. I heard ppl werent happy with the new hulls was curious if anyone knows what yrs they went to the new hulls and if they ride that bad. Was leaning towards a 07 but if the hulls are bad i would go older for a better ride. any input would be appreciated. Also input on merc motors between the opti, verado, pro xs

The new hulls are great, no issues at all. The old hulls are too, really, but there was a redesign a few years back.

I fished 5 tournaments this year (so about 15 days) in my buddies 619. It is a 2008 model. The plate on the hull says protected hull design by ranger in 2006. So I would assume all 2006 and newer 619's have the same hull. I have fished for many years in another buddies 2001 Ranger 619 and the 2008 is a night and day difference for rough water ride! The 2008 is much better. It seamed the faster we go in rough water in the 2008 the smoother it gets. He is running a 225 Merc. Pro XS. The boat will touch 60 mph with one guy in the boat and about 57 mph with 2 guys and gear. I would stay away from the Verado in my opinion. The Opti and Pro XS are faster, lighter and a little better on fuel. The newer 619's also have room for 3 batteries in the flow which is a big plus. It frees up alot of storage in the boat. I think the only thing they lost in adding the batteries in the floor is you lost the Aux. 6-8 gal gas tank. You only have one large tank. The boat is setup awesome for any type of fishing you want to do and sits nice and low in the water when you are off plane. I don't think you can go wrong with the newer 619's and 620's.
