Location: Theresa, NY | I have a 17 Lund Mr Pike with a 90 Mer 4 stroke, wife bought me a 9.9 merc 4 stroke, isn't she nice, question is can i tie this into my fuel system for the 90 or just switch the fuel line when i want to troll with the kicker? Or carry a fuel tank for the kicker? what do you experts recommend, by the way, Merry Christmans all. |

Yes, there is a way. Go to your boat local dealer and ask him for 3-way valve. I had it on my Lund. The main hooks up from the bottom and the other motors hook up from the sides. Kind of like a "T" valve.

| I'm not real familiar with the Lunds, but I think I read that the Lund tanks have 2 pick-ups. If this is true, you would just hook the line directly to the tank. Maybe a Lund guy or mechanic could confirm this.

| What model year is your Mr. Pike? I would rather run two seperate fuel lines from the tank when possible. Two fuel lines, two primer bulbs. |

| I had a 3-way valve put on by Moon Marine, down in Fond Du Lac, WI. I also saw Wendts Marine instlling the 3-way valve on the Lunds this year.

Location: Fond du Lac, WI | I had a 3-way valve put on my Lund by a local boat mechanic in Fond du Lac as well. My brother has the same, but he has a shut off valve incorporated in his so you can shut off the gas to one motor when running the other. Is this necessary, or a benefit in some way? Just curious.

| I was told the reason for the 3-way valve, is so the gas isn't sucked out of the main motors carbs. If that would happened, I would think it would be hard to start.

Location: Neenah Wi | I've just got a tee fitting off the main line and two bulbs off of the tee.Works fine.The shut off valve is not neccesary as far as I can tell. |

| I haven't dealt with this, but have a friend that has. 1 thing that he learned (the hard way) was that if you install a T valve on your main line, you have to do it below the bulb for the main motor. If I remember correctly, many of todays motors with fuel injection, have very fussy fuel pumps. If there is not a certain minimum pressure in the line, they will not start. By putting the T valve above the main fuel bulb, the kicker was draining that pressure, and he always had a tough time getting his main motor started after using his kicker. After pumping it up enough to start his main motor, his kicker would be flooded! By installing it before the bulb, the pressure remained good because the flapper valve in the bulb would stay sealed, and he could use both motors with out the trouble.
In the end, you would be best off if you had a second fuel line from the tank. |
