saturday was alot of fun.i was able to talk my bride into going with me. the first thing she asked was are we gonna fish like we use to or are we going strolling, its not as much fun to stroll. LOL... i made her a deal that if i couldnt put a fish in the boat in an hour that i will switch gears and get out the jig rods.i put out a leadcore rod and as soon as i put it in the rod holder it folded in half.i turned around and said do you want this one ,this one what she replied.then she seen the rod bending back.i took all she had to get it out of the holder.a nice 24 incher. we ended up with seven fish 16-21 inches and that one 24 that we put back.never got out the jig rods..

2 years? Mine Wifey is about the same, she's good for one boat trip, and maybe 2 ice trips a year.

And mine won't clean fish either (I keep telling her that most wife's clean all their men's fish!), but she'll cook and eat them, So I'm not complaining!

Larry,it`s a good thing you brought the boss.Mine wont go unless it`s 80 and sunny. For as long as we are on the road its a good thing to to spend time with the wifes.I`m glad you still are catching fish with lead core and strolling. As soon as I get back I`m going to the IL to get a fix.Hope the mild weather holds out untill I get back. John Mannerino

was out on sunday and it was a tough bite at first.i had a hard time getting fish to comit to the cranks. what i figured out, i was going to slow.thinking with the colder weather and 32.8 degree water that i needed to go slow,1-1.7 mph. that wasnt the case it took 2-2.5 mph. to get the fish to come up and smash the baits.after i had that down i used smaller cranks and had a fairly decent day. 6 fryers and one giant sheep around 10lbs. debbie (my wife) happen to be setting out a leadcore rod and it damm neer yanked the rod out of her hands,im snagged ,im snagged she yelled .. i could tell right away she had a fish.a ten minute battle and there it was big as a trash can lid . wish i could go agian today but i have to complete a contract for coach barry alverez. saturday might be a possibility after that it looks like ice.

He was my linebacker coach at Iowa before he became Defensive Coordinator at Notre Dame. Great coach and great guy. He gave a too short, too small and too slow guy a chance to walk on to a national program. Thanks coach! Steve
