now that the river is froze bank to bank, this is when i really get cabin fever. i tie alot of droppers and leaders for three way rigging.check hooks on cranks. i also start tieing up crawler harnesses in two and three hook rigs.i like to start the season with at least 200 harnesses ready to bead up. i never use a harness that has caught fish a few times. the hooks lose that needle sharp point and i really think that is very important.
so now i think about an ice fishing adventure to petenwell .
still thinking!

I am with you Larry, cabin fever setting in along with snow and frigid temps in northern illinois. Thankfully, The big OHare Fishing Show starts 1 week from today. So this weekend, I will check my inventory notes to figure out what I need for the upcoming season. I may be able to get what I need at the OHare Show. THEN I will start the process of cleaning reels, spooling line, tieing harnesses and making 3 way rigs. FUN....wm

Hey Larry, Last year they didnt have alot of lures at deals as they did in the past. But there is one show that didnt happen this year that was strickly fishing so I would expect it would be better this year.I use to pick up some good deals there on flawed raps from the factory{paint}. I will see if there is any there this year. I just got a deal on 6 b&b boxes and I got some filling to do. I will be looking for those gramma`s for sure!!! The only problem is you have to get there first before it gets scooped up. You know if there is something I will call ya for sure. John Mannerino

Larry, Johnnie has it right. The old show at Arlington Park was great and was fishing only. The long standing OHare show is large, covers fishing, hunting, boats, resorts, cruises, overseas vacations etc. and now owns what was the Arlington Show. SO everyone's hope is that OHare improves, and gets a serious facelift, with the inclusion of the Arlington Show within the OHare Show. Here is the url for Ohare; www.chicagolandsportshow.com

good luck wm

If there are to many good deals for you guys to soak up, let me know!

Otherwise, like Larry recommends in the inital post to this thread, time to start thinking about soft water. So the last few hours I spent taking trebles off of crankbaits (ouch!). Will be sending them in to be painted my favorite walleye colors.

Can't wait for Spring Valley! Winnebago! Saginaw! Leech! Mississippi!

i hear you there rick. i should wear leather gloves when doing the hook thing. but its well woth it,them grabby hooks that if you look at them there sticking into your skin.it really greatly improves your hooking percentage.

Tyee send me a email with your phone number. I just bought 6 used ones and have a couple of extras. But I do have aprox 500 cranks and need more. I think it`s a sickness or something. John
