Location: Rhinelander | The snow arrived last night and continues now, with about a half inch sticking to the ground. All the boats were coated with ice and snow, but the field seemed eager to hit the river since it's still pretty much anyone's game to win. More Teams headed South today. Jigging seemed to be the method that put fish in the boat yesterday for those who ended up on the leaderboard. The current slowed yesterday, changing up the game plan for many. As the front heads through, some Teams said they felt the bite would improve, and the water did warm a degree somehow last night. With 8# leading, and 5# placng top five, a limit today might secure a check. The weigh in at Bartos will begin around 3 PM. Day two coverage is brought to you by Lund Boats! Location: Rhinelander | The bite was indeed much better today on the Illinois River out of Spring Valley as quite a few 5 fish limits came to the stage. Clayton Freiburger and Mike Bisdorf put together two solid days weighing 18-15 to take the MWC Spring Valley trophy and a check for $16,000.00. Ryan Vecchia and Bill Elliot took second with 18.01. Marc Hoster and Doug Hoster ended the event in third with 16-02, Dave Kleszyk and Dave Zurawski took fourth with 14-03, and Thomas and Tom Giachetto rounded out the top five with 13-02. Jigging was definitely the hot technique. 3 Ways and Hand lining were hot in practice, but that bite died after the front moved in.
