To say Winnebago was rough today would just plain be understatement. Boats were broken, gear was smashed, and anglers beat up, but the scales were very busy. As the weigh in progressed, it was clear the bite was slower today, but was still 'on' and the teams got into the fish pretty well, many at the expense of gear and body.

The worst of the area storms missed the weigh in, but a frog strangler did blast the stage and dock for about 10 minutes, soaking the anglers and the fans. There was a GREAT crowd in attendance.

Techniques were quintessential Winnebago with no surprises. Much of the big lake was just plain tough today due to high winds, so the Upper Lakes and River produced a number of the fish, but there were still a number of teams reporting they caught their fish on Winnebago today.

John Geiger and Dale Howard brought 39.62 to the scales for the event winning first place and a check for $20,000.00. The event paid out $15K more than 100% entry due to some powerful sponsorship, so the payout was deep and excellent.

In second were Ron Goldapske and Dave Knuepel with 36.02 for $10K. Third was taken by Dave Ehlke and Duane Haedt for $7K. Fourth went to Jeff Thein and Jeff Brauer for $5K, and Carl Rose and Gordon Rose rounded out the top five taking home $4500.00.
