Member Posts: 3899 | I know the calendar on the View Forums page says it begins tomorrow, but it really begins Friday. The Milwaukee Boat Show begins tomorrow, and the Walleye/Muskie/Pike Expo is just the 3 days. Didn't want anybody running down there tomorrow expecting to see abunch of new eye stuff, and be disappointed(read angry). Who's going?

Member Posts: 3899 | Directions: From the north (Port Washington, Sheboygan, Green Bay): Take I-43 South toward downtown Milwaukee and exit (on the left) to State Highway 145 East. Exit 145 (again on the left) to 4th Street. Go south on 4th Street 2 blocks to State Street; the Milwaukee Arena is across State Street on the right. For deliveries to the Arena or Auditorium, turn right on State and go to the parking lot or loading docks behind the buildings. To drop passengers off, continue one block on 4th and turn right on Kilbourn Avenue. For the Midwest Express Center, continue another two blocks south on 4th Street to Wisconsin Avenue, and drop passengers off on 4th Street or Wisconsin, or proceed around the building to the loading dock entrance on 6th Street. From the south (Racine, Kenosha, Chicago) or southwest (Beloit, Rockford, etc.): From the southwest, take I-43 North into Milwaukee. Go north on I-94 West and I-43 North into downtown Milwaukee. Where I-94 and I-43 separate, continue north on I- 43 a very short distance to the Kilbourn Avenue/Civic Center exit. This exit is on the right and will take you through a tunnel. You will exit the tunnel at 6th Street and Kilbourn Avenue. The Milwaukee Auditorium is across 6th Street on your left. The Milwaukee Arena is ahead on Kilbourn Avenue before the next light, also on the left. To get to the Midwest Express Center, continue past the Auditorium and Arena to 4th Street. Turn right on 4th Street and you will see the Midwest Express Center on your right in the next block. Drop off passengers on 4th Street or continue around the building. From the west (Waukesha, Madison, Twin Cities) or northwest (Fond du Lac, Oshkosh): From the northwest, take U.S. 45 to I-94. Do not use I-894. Take I-94 East to downtown Milwaukee (street numbers count down). Where I-94 exits on the right to go south toward Chicago, continue eastward about 1/4 mile on Interstate 794 East to the J. Lovell Drive/Civic Center exit and follow the signs to 6th Street. Turn left on 6th Street and go north past Michigan Street to Wisconsin Avenue. You will see the Midwest Express Center across Wisconsin Avenue on your right. To drop off passengers, go forward to Wells Street, turn right, and right again on 4th Street, or continue around the building. From 6th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, the Milwaukee Auditorium and Milwaukee Arena are two blocks north on Kilbourn Avenue. When you get to Kilbourn Avenue, the Milwaukee Auditorium is across Kilbourn on your right and the Milwaukee Arena is next door to it. Hours: Friday, February 13 3pm-9:30pm Saturday, February 14 10am-9:30pm Sunday, February 15 10am-6pm Edited by Shep 2/10/2004 11:37 PM

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | Very disappointing.....hardly anyone there and very few tackle retailers there. Maybe having it on Valentine's Day isn't the best idea. I think the boat show was focused on bigger boat sales, which does not tend to lure in the fishing crowd. I did manage to pick up two Silstar 9' noodle rods. They'll be perfect for slip bobber fishing the reefs. Stopped and talked to Keith Kavajecz for awhile. Also listened to his seminar. When you have a top five alltime walleye fisherman giving a seminar and less than 15 people attend, I'd say that the show didn't attract many people.

Member Posts: 526 Location: blue mounds, wisc | i think i will listen to jerry and not attend the show sunday. we need a show centered in the state to cater us fishermen. no boats over 21 feet, lots of tackle reps and i think it would draw alot better than boat shows featuring wave makers .

Location: Rhinelander | That was the case last year with the show as well, not a fishing crowd.

Member Posts: 540 Location: Milw, WI | This show was the Wi. walleye expo. the owner also did that boat show. The attendance was going way down at both shows so he combined them. Real hard to get anyone go to fishing shows in this area just to small of crowds from here. I will not even go to these shows here, unless working at them myself. When doing the shows in the past most people I talked to were from out of town. It would not suprise me if the Urinal Sport Show goes down the tubes soon. But I will drive to The Madison just to go. Why??????? 1. I get out of this town. 2. Nicer crowd ( small and friendly) 3. Great event for the kids , with contests for them, and vendors giving kids door prizes at there booths. I don't have any crumb snatchers, but my friend doses and this year we hope he wins the casting contest and can go to the USA finals.

How much do you think the parking deal in that area hurt attendance? I was at a couple ball games there, and parking was a nightmare. 'Spensive, too.

Member Posts: 2393 Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | I would agree that the boat show has gone down in attendance for years BUT it looked to me like the Walleye Expo at State Fair Park was growing each year. I assumed that they were using the Walleye Expo portion to help bail out the boat show part. Didn't look like it worked. Most of the vendors that were there last year working booths were not there this year and everyone I talked to that was there this year said they were not coming back. As a side note, you're observation about people coming from out of town was correct. When I worked the Walleyes For Tomorrow booth I asked everyone where they were from and almost everyone was an out of towner.
