The ten qualifying pros and co-anglers hit the water this morning to duke it out for the prestigious title of NWT Champion. With a relatively flat day forecasted for the area, the pros are confident in the fishing picking up, plus the added bonus of more time to fish due to the lack of big waves slowing down long runs to fishing spots. Jason Przekurat holds a commanding 7 lb lead, but as any pro will tell you it is not over until it's over. Stay tuned to WalleyeFIRST for photos and interviews from today's weigh-in and awards ceremony. Location: Rhinelander | Jason Przekurat was in the lead from day 1, and followed it through to win the 2016 NWT Championship ond Lake Oahe, South Dakota. The first two days were a story of wind and big waves, but those conditions seemed to have the walleyes in more of a biting mood. Anglers were looking forward to a flatter day to help with boat control, however the walleyes went into their typical tough-bite when the wind dies. Przekurat along with a lot of the field found fish willing to eat Berkley Flicker Shads trolled over submerged trees in deep water, including many of the big fish caught. Tournament anglers also commented on how well this tournament is run, and how inviting and accommodating the town of Mobridge is. That's a wrap for the NWT 2016 season, congratulations to all of the anglers who competed in this great event. Attachments ---------------- index.jpg (40KB - 131 downloads) | ||
