I find myself looking at weather forecasts, solunar tables, moon times (yes, same thing), crystal balls, i.e. anything that might give me a clue as to how good the bite should/could be for the day. Does anyone else do such things? I'm sure "The Weather Channel" is a popular channel in your house, if you're anything like me. Do you consider wind, sun, cloud cover, or time of day when it comes to fishing locations and times of day you are fishing? How do these things influence fishing methods and color selection when it comes to choosing lures and/or live bait?

The largest influence on fishing is "the wife"

Good question, Jerry.

While over the years I've tried to put reason and logic to fishing conditions to determine patterns, often times I've ran into the exception rather than the norm. I don't know if that wipes the slate clean or not but I chalk it up to experience and move on.

I do use one other indicator and that's "feeling lucky".

Tend to follow the wind alot. The sunlight also plays a role as to how deep to fish.

I'll go along with Rick, the wind...it usually decides where, how, and for what I'll fish for that day.

i have went fishing in some of the worst weather. i had to learn to catch fish no matter the weather. yes wind can really play into going or not. i can and will fish rain ,sleet,or snow. one of my best days on the mississippi,it was fricken freezing out, my line and guides kept iceing up, but the fish were just on a feed. i dont pay much attention to the moon or barometer because if you could pick and choose the perfect days to fish , you would fish 75% less than you do now!!!

I hate the full moon phase! Wind only determines WHERE I fish! And more than anything, Current and water temp are the biggest factors in my decission making! If anyone has kept records of the few days before or after a full moon I think you'll see that the fish don't bite and the deer don't move either! If you have some hints for that time I would appreciate them!
Good Luck

The best way to tell the future of how the day will be is to get out there and fish anytime you have the time.I don't think the walleyes even know what influences them.If your there you might catch fish,How many times have you heard: SHOULD OF BEEN HERE YESTERDAY OR LAST WEEK I think you get the idea.
