Location: Rhinelander | So when does the area you guys fish turn on for numbers in the Spring? I'm in Kentucky for a MuskieFIRST outing, and would like to stop by and fish for a day or two. Not TOO far out of the way.

Member Posts: 158 Location: Upper Sandusky Ohio | Steve: It really depends on how the Spring progresses, and If we get a lousy stretch of weather in April. If April is stable, good numbers are had In the Early days of May. I personally do not fish the Lake in April because it's usually terrible weather, It seems like those awful Northeast wind blow for weeks straight, and I still have a few competition hunts left on the schedule. The first week of May is the usual beginning point of my fishing season on the Lake. I would be honored to share my boat with you should you want to come fish "The worlds greatest Walleye Lake". Let me know when your in the area, I have all the gear.

When they do get going out there, are they hard to find? Would it be good to hire a guide?

Member Posts: 158 Location: Upper Sandusky Ohio | They are no different than anywhere else. Get a good accurate map, and some decent electronics, and you'll be alright. Depending on the Spring you might be close to the reefs, or you may have to work over deeper stuff. It's all the same game. Look until you find them, then fish. If your fishing a smaller boat you will want to be very Anal about the weather. The water is still cold enough to kill you pretty quick if you sink. If you want a guide, I would be happy to help you out. Edited by Trophy 2/19/2004 9:56 PM
