| I forgot to plug in my battery charger this winter and I am sure they are frozen! What would happen if I plug it in now? Obviously removing the batteries and taking them in the basement to thaw would be the ideal situation. Does a on board charging system generate power to not do damage if I just plug it in? The batteries are 1 2 and 3 years old. the 3 year old is going to be recycled this year!
Good Luck

Location: Westland, Mich. | if you had healthy batteries when you stored your boat you should be ok. go ahead and plug in the charger to get your batteries topped up. the season is very close and you'll be able to go back to your normal routine. you may have lost a little in the life of the battereis but not enough to notice. unless you had a whole winter of sub zero temps the cells most likly wern't damaged. i always bring in my batteries and put them on a trickle charge a couple of times each winter. on the other hand the battery in my garden tractor stays in the tractor and fires it up in the spring just fine. the 1 in there now is about 5 years old, has been totally abused and still keeps going.

Location: Rhinelander | JAKE is right, if the batteries had a charge and were not completely dead, they won't be frozen or damaged. Charge them up! |
